Venom Could Return to ‘Spider-Man 4′

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Venom has been destroyed in the end of “Spider-Man 3“, but words are, this alien symbiote villain could be making a return in “Spider-Man 4“. In an interview with MTV News, the villain’s co-creator Todd McFarlane expresses his belief that the character may come to the big screen once more with the fourth installment of the superhero series.

“I co-created Venom,” the 48-year-old gushed on the possibility. “He was in the last ‘Spider-Man’ movie. And I think he might make an appearance here in the next one, too.” Nonetheless, McFarlane didn’t break down on his positive insight over the potential return of Venom, who is portrayed by Topher Grace in the last installment.

Talking more about the character, McFarlane explained on how he would present Venom in “Spider-Man 3″ if he were in-charge. “I would’ve done a few things different,” he said. “When I first created him, I made him huge. That would’ve been the first thing for me; I would’ve wanted somebody who looked like he was three times the size of Spider-Man, so it was almost like Spider-Man going against the Hulk.”

“[I want] someone who is really formidable; whenever you have a skinny character against a big one it’s like ‘Woah, I’m going to have to work today.’ But instead, the two of them were about the same size,” he added. “I would’ve done something more dramatic. [I also would've increased] the nastiness; I never cared too much about the comics code. I always pushed the envelope until the editor said ‘You’d better pull that back.’”

The fourth installment of “Spider-Man” series, “Spider-Man 4” has been reported to be shot back-to-back with “Spider-Man 5“. It teams up once again director Sam Raimi and lead actor Tobey Maguire. Produced by Avi Arad, Grant Curtis and Laura Ziskin, the script will be provided by David Lindsay-Abaire. This movie will be opened in U.S. theaters on May 6, 2011.

‘The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus’ - Photos

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

DVD Forum has got its hands on four brand new photos from Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus“. Three of the pictures are the film’s stills, and each captures Heath Ledger as Tony, Lily Cole as Parnassus’ daughter Valentina and Christopher Plummer as the very own Doctor Parnassus. Meanwhile, the last image is a set photo, displaying director Terry Gilliam giving instruction to Plummer.

New images aside, this fantasy drama which features Ledger’s last performance has got its first domestic screening in Los Angeles Tuesday night, May 5. Held by U.S. sales rep Cinetic Media, the screening was attended by major independent buyers. Entertainment Weekly reported that “buyers are currently circling the film”, while The Hollywood Reporter claimed filmmakers are looking for “a studio-level deal with studio-level prices”.

Set in the present day, “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” tells the story of Dr Parnassus and his extraordinary ‘Imaginarium’. Making deals with the devil long time ago which gives him immortality, he is cursed with a dark secret that jeopardizes his daughter’s freedom. Desperate to protect his daughter from her impending fate, he must now find a man that will help him undo the mistakes of his past once and for all.

Expected to be released sometime in 2009, this movie comes from “The Brothers Grimm” director, Terry Gilliam. In early 2008, this drama fantasy has been put in a jeopardy when its leading actor, Ledger, was found dead in his apartment while the production was still halfway through. But with the joining of Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law in place of Ledger’s vacant role, it has since been pushed forward.

Casting rumor keeps hitting “Green Lantern” with Bradley Cooper being listed as the latest potential actor to star. Drew McWeeny of HitFix recently came up with a story suggesting that the 34-year-old actor is one of the front runners to play the titular character in the Martin Campbell-directed superhero film.

“I’ve just spent the last hour or so on the phones, tracking down a rumor I heard, and HitFix can exclusively report that Bradley Cooper is now one of the guys most likely to don the suit and slip on the power ring as The Green Lantern for director Martin Campbell,” so wrote McWeeny of the rumor. He further noted that no deal has been signed just yet.

Before Cooper’s name was mentioned, “Star Trek” star Chris Pine and Academy Award-nominated Ryan Gosling have been linked to the Hal Jordan part. On his possible involvement, Pine previously has told MTV News that discussions of him taking the role have indeed taken place, but no offer has been thrown.

“Green Lantern” will tell the story of Hal Jordan, an ordinary test pilot who is suddenly given the task by dying alien named Abin Sur to protect the space using a green energy-powered ring. Pre-production for the movie scripted by Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim and Michael Green is set to begin in July, before moving on to the filming in November for a U.S. release on December 17, 2010.

Starting his career in showbiz on TV series “Sex and the City”, Bradley Cooper made a name of his own when landing the part of Will Tippin in TV drama “Alias”. His most recognizable feature film role would be the villainous Zack Lodge in “Wedding Crashers”. Since then, he has starred in various films, such as “Failure to Launch”, “Yes Man” and “He’s Just Not That into You”. He will soon be seen in “The Hangover”.

FOX Confirms Deadpool Spinoff

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Your wish has been granted, Deadpool fans. Fox has officially announced (via Variety and THR) that they have begun development on Deadpool, a spin-off of X-Men Origins: Wolverine featuring the fan-favorite “merc with a mouth” in his own solo feature. Ryan Reynolds is expected to return and star as Wade Wilson. Any of you who stuck around and saw the secret endings at the end of Wolverine might’ve caught the one with Deadpool whispering “shhh” to the camera. Although this was awfully cheesy, it was a way of showing that he’s still around and he’s coming back, not as the Weapon XI mutant he was in that movie.

Although this is still a Fox production, Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel Studios will act as producers. It is understood that Reynolds will regain the ability to mouth off, with the movie going back to the roots of the character known for his slapstick tone and propensity to break the fourth wall. Former Fox exec Jeff Katz has mentioned that “it will be classic Deadpool.” So for all of you who may be nervous about the character after seeing Wolverine, don’t worry, we’re going to see a Deadpool movie exactly as we should. No writer or director has been hired yet, so we’ll keep you updated. Let’s hope this turns out better than Wolverine!

Director Confirmed for Matthew Fox’s Billy Smoke

Posted by: admin | Comments (0)

Warner Brothers has announced that they are developing an adaptation of a forthcoming comic book series called Billy Smoke being published by Oni Press (the same company who put out Scott Pilgrim). The comics, written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, are about an elite hit man who is nearly killed during a botched job. He realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins. The adaptation will be directed by Jeffrey Nachmanoff, who last directed the thriller Traitor last year. Set to star as the assassin is Matthew Fox. No word yet on when this will go into production at Warner Brothers.

It looks as if Fox has been involved in this from the very start, helping promote the comic since it was first announced last year. You can check out a glimpse at the cover art on the Oni Press forums and read about some more details over there. I did eventually see Nachmanoff’s Traitor last year and thought it was good, but not great, though I’ll say I think he could eventually become a great director. I’m much more excited to see Matthew Fox take on a lead role. He’s an exceptional actor and I loved seeing him in Speed Racer last year. Even though we’ve seen plenty of assassin movies, I’m more than happy to have him leading this one.

Here is a new set picture of Iron Man 2 of a Los Angeles Landmark, Randy’s Donuts. Director Jon Favreau posted this via his Twitter account.

Nothing too revealing, but he did also confirm that both Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) filmed their first scenes today. Johansson was in black leather while Jackson filmed his scene with Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.
