The office describes the everyday lives of the people who are employed with Scranton branch of the Dunder Mifflin paper supply company. These employees struggle to compete with modern day technologies and the staff is in denial about everything-from the possibility of downsizing to their own insignificance. Still, they have enough heart and potential to stay in business, at least for today. Regional Manager, Michael Scott thinks that he is the coolest, funniest, best boss ever and who has an incompatible comment for everything and for every situation. His undeniable enthusiasm makes him the uncoolest, annoying boss as far as his staff is concerned. His co-worker Jim, lusts after Pam who is a receptionist and a friendly gal. She spends her time either covering for Michael’s ineptitude, or joking around with Jim. They usually make fun of Dwight Schrute, who serves as Michael’s right hand man. Ryan Howard is a smart, brilliant, young, self possessed business graduate who tries to bring Dunder Mifflin into the 21st century, in spite of Michael’s attempts to do things in a very old-fashioned way. The rest of the office staff is equally colorful and full of personality. Through everyday events and a series of short interviews, the brutal truth of the American workplace is disclosed.
